Borrowed Mobility

A Workshop on the true cost of range of motion

We're taught to chase mobility - bigger, reach farther, deeper stretch, more range.  But how much of the range we're seeing is actually earned, and how much is borrowed?

In this workshop, we'll look closely at what happens when stability is bypassed rather than established: when the levers of the arms and legs pull or push the body along for the ride instead of moving from an anchored center.

Bring your questions, your favorite exercies and your willingness to look critically at your own cueing.  This one's for teachers ready to go deeper into the "why" behind the method.

Spring Union

Integrating Spring Tension into Spinal Change

Most cueing treats the springs as external - something to push against, pull down, or resist.  This workshop proposes a different relationship: the spring as an extension of the practitioner's own nervous system, not a load to be managed.

The premise is simple but exacting - the moment you take the spring, you draw its tension into your center.  From that point forward, nothing moves unless the spring moves, and the spring moves only because you do.  Practitioner and spring become a single system.  This isn't a metaphor for 'control' - it's a literal proprioceptive contract that changes how the spine organizes itself under load.
